Neurosecretory cells (NSCs) normally occur in the ganglia of the central nervous system preferably located in the brain. They generally resemble monopolar nerve cells but they are characterized by showing cytological evidence of secretion and usually by discharging their products into the hemolymph. Here, an attempt is made to recognize the NSCs located in various regions of tripartite cerebral lobe of a water beetle, Cybister tripunctatus OL.
Three types of neurosecretory cells have been identified in the cerebral lobes of this adult water beetle. According to the morphological features and staining affinities with Ewen's Paraldehyde Fuchsin (PF) and Heidenhain's Azan-Aniline Blue (A AB) they are classified as 'A', 'B' and 'C' type cells. These cells have been found in certain locations of the cerebral complex, namely, median portion of protocerebrum, lateral region of protocerebrum and tritocerebrum. Thus, three endocrinal centres are present in the brain of this adult insect.

The family Annonaceae has Gondwanan affinity and is being reported from the Cambay Shale of Vastan Lignite Mine on the basis of well-preserved fruit (in counterpart), leaf and pollen grains. This finding is significant because it serves as yet another example of an angiosperm family found in South America and Africa that may have boarded the Indian raft when India was attached to Madagascar, reported on the basis of pollen from Kutch. The Vastan occurrences represent a continuous record from the Indian latest Cretaceous, through the Palaeocene, based on multiple vegetative entities. The well-preserved fruit is morphologically similar to Annona palustris L. At present the dispersal history of the family into India represents an origin in the Lower Cretaceous of North America with later dispersal to South America and Africa and then onto India, as it is recorded from the sedimentary beds associated with the Deccan Volcanics. Another angiosperm family, Dipterocarpaceae, is also found in Vastan, with a similar phytogeographic distribution.Keywords

Steroidal glycoalkaloids, a category of glycosidic ingradients are originated from nitrogen-containing steroids. Structurally it includes of C27 cholestane skeleton to that 1 to 5 sugar moieties are hooked up at the 3-OH region of the aglycone part. Solasodine, in most of the solanaceous plants occurs as an aglycone a region of glycoalkloids, like solasonine, solamargine etc. Solasodine is employed as a hormone precursor within the steroid drug business for the manufacturing corticosteroids, anabolic steroids, antifertility drugs etc. Isolated Solasodine from solanum plants exploits its medicinal properties such as anticonvulsant, CNS depressant, antioxidant, cytotoxic, antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, antiatherosclerotic, antimicrobial, and antiobesity activity, etc. In acut toxicity study, LD50 of Solasodine was found to be 1500 mg/kg after intraperitoneal administration and 2000 mg/kg, after oral administration in rats. Present review has set about to bring updated information regarding to pharmacological activities of solasodine, which may be helpful to researchers to explore a new bioactive molecules for various therapeutic application.Keywords
